In an alternate Europe a war rages between countries where dirigibles are a grand and common form of transport and Kaiser's rule with the aid of assassins. The story opens with the apparent assassination of the Kaiser by his most trusted killer who must finger her way through burning skies and war-torn trenches to save her own life. The world is weary of battle and people do what they can to survive, the men of entire countries conscripted to battle.
